FRIENDS OF TAFO - PHOTO COMPETITION

In January 2004 a competition was organised to best express 'Life in Tafo' in a series of photographs. Each school was given one disposable camera. Most pupils had never used a camera in their lives. Each photograph was taken by a different pupil, and diaries were kept of the photograph subject and photographers' details.

There were three categories for entries, click to see a selection of the photos:

Primary Schools, both public and private
Junior Secondary Schools
St. Joseph's Technical Institute and the Senior Secondary School

The purpose was to tell people now and in future generations about Kwahu-Tafo today, through the eyes of its younger citizens, and to provide challenge and entertainment to the school children of Tafo. As well as providing an enjoyable and educational activity for the students, the competition has generated a valuable and fascinating resource in the form of a large collection of images of the town and its community.

We present a selection of the photographs that we most enjoyed and that taught us most about Tafo from the students. We hope that you enjoy looking at these pictures. If you would like to use any of these pictures, please let us know and credit the charity and the photographer.
